Pricing methodology · Los Angeles

Useful range first. Written estimate before repair.

Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics shows a preliminary Los Angeles market-reference range to help you decide what to do next. It is not a repair quote, a parts reservation, or permission to begin work. A real repair requires a written itemized estimate and your authorization before work begins.

What this number includes—and does not

Ranges are whole-dollar planning estimates, generally before tax. Diagnosis, parts availability, exact engine or powertrain, rust or damage, electronic programming, access, parking, and the final written scope can change a real price. Inspection-first work deliberately does not show a fabricated number.

Vehicle match level is visible

Curated trim + configuration LA range
Shown only when Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics matches the selected year, make, model, trim, and engine/drivetrain configuration to a server-owned static catalog record. It is more specific, not a live parts quote or promise of a final price.
Curated trim-family + configuration LA range
Shown when the selected trim and configuration match a supported group that currently shares one static planning range. It is clearly not presented as an independently sourced range for every trim in that group.
Curated model & powertrain LA range
Shown when the vehicle and powertrain match a supported model-level record but no individual trim/configuration range is available. It is not a trim-specific price.
Vehicle-class LA planning range
Shown for the broader supported catalog when only a vehicle class is known or the selected vehicle has no curated record. It is not a model-specific quote. Choose year, make, model, trim, and configuration for a better match when available.
Inspection required
Used for high-voltage EV or ADAS concerns and other jobs where a number without inspection would be misleading.
VIN-verified written quote
Available only when a licensed labor-and-parts provider is connected. It verifies the vehicle from the VIN and must return itemized labor, VIN-fit parts, availability, taxes/fees, a total, and a short expiry. Without that provider, Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics blocks dispatch instead of treating a planning range as a quote.

Reference approach

Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics’ server-side catalog uses curated Los Angeles public-estimate references for common maintenance, repair, roadside, and diagnostic services. The server checks the selected service and vehicle inputs before a supported range is shown and again before a request is saved. A real written-quote path is separate: it accepts a VIN only after the customer asks for a quote, encrypts it, and requires a configured licensed gateway to return the itemized result. RepairPal and YourMechanic are product and market-reference inputs only: Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics does not copy, scrape, or claim access to their proprietary labor guides, parts inventory, shop networks, or final quotes.

  • RepairPal Fair Price Estimator illustrates why location and exact vehicle configuration matter.
  • RepairPal Los Angeles diagnostic reference and its Los Angeles service pages inform the local-reference pattern.
  • YourMechanic’s estimate flow informs the vehicle + location + service experience and inspection fallback.
  • California BAR Write It Right explains the importance of written estimates and authorization for covered repair work.

Catalog review date: August 2026. Operations must recheck local prices, coverage, parts, and capacity before enabling live transactions or changing a published range.

Limits and exclusions

  • A range does not include unknown failed parts, extra labor, taxes, permits, towing destination charges, storage, or non-standard travel unless an actual written estimate says it does. ZIP is used for a Los Angeles service-area pre-check; it does not change this static catalog range.
  • Vehicle-class results are intentionally broad. They do not imply an unlisted trim has been priced precisely.
  • Fuel delivery separates fuel cost. Tire availability and matching depend on actual stock. A mobile repair may be declined if the parking location or job is unsafe or unsuitable.
  • A preferred visit window is a request in Pacific time, not a confirmed appointment until Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics operations and the mechanic accept it.

Before repair work begins

A customer request is not final repair authorization. Before covered repair work begins, the responsible repair business must provide the applicable written estimate, identify the work and charges, and obtain the customer’s required authorization. If scope or price changes, the customer must have the opportunity to review and authorize the revised work as required.

For the current Torque Mend Mobile Mechanics launch foundation, an estimate acknowledgement is recorded with the service request. Itemized work orders, final invoices, payment collection, revised-scope approval, and any required customer copies are separate production capabilities that need to be completed and reviewed before public paid repair operations.
